	INSTALLATION TOOL LIST chalk line 16mm masonry drill bit 45cm long stapler & staples rotary hammer drill scissors 6mm spanner or socket hammer 10 metre tape measure crayon or lead pencil 3.5mm and 4.5 mm metal drill bits crosshead screwdriver KEY FACTORS IN A SUCCESSFUL INSTALLATION The most important aspect of the Enclôture® DIY System is the accuracy in the setting out of all the measurements and following the instructions stage by stage; these are the key factors:
	Read this instruction manual from start to finish before installation and keep for further reference. • Check the contents of each box to the list included • The poles of the fencing must be on the inside (nearest the pool) • Any gate must always open AWAY from the pool • Always start setting out from where you wish to locate your gate • Where practical, work in one direction from the gate, until completion of your fencing plan • When setting out always face the pool as you measure and mark the holes • Always use the Drill Guide, which you have hired or purchased for drilling the holes. See section Using the Drill Guide SETTING UP • All our working and drawings are based on five (5) pole Sections We recommend customers to maintain at least a minimum of ONE METRE distance from the edge of the pool and a maximum of FOUR METRES
	Locate the two templates provided to begin measuring
	1. Go around your pool and mark the distances you wish your fence to be from the edge of the pool (minimum of 1 metre).These marks should be approximately every 2 metres.
	2. Taking the CHALK LINE, join up all of these marks around the pool.
	3. Decide where you want your gate and, taking the GATE TEMPLATE, position it over the top of the CHALK LINE and carefully mark the holes on the patio/terrace.
	4. Remove the GATE TEMPLATE and set it aside. Then, from the centre of the outer hole measure 57mm or use the FENCE TEMPLATE, which will give you the centre of your first hole for the fencing. See Diagram 2 – Using the Fence Template
	AT THIS POINT, DEPENDING ON THE SHAPE OF YOUR POOL GO EITHER TO: GATE AND FENCING FOR RECTANGULAR OR SQUARE POOLS or to GATE AND FENCING FOR ROUND OR FREEFORM POOLS
	GATE & FENCING FOR RECTANGULAR OR SQUARE POOLS
	Take your FENCE TEMPLATE and place it over the centre of the hole you have just marked and then mark out 4 further holes along the CHALK LINE. After the 5th hole you either measure 57 mm or using the FENCE TEMPLATE mark the first hole of the new section and continue until you reach a corner, or the end of your run of fencing Go right to the corner and measure 57mm across the right angle – from centre to centre of each hole as shown in Diagram No 5 – Corners Layout. Note: Unless the fifth pole happens to finish in exactly the corner, it will be necessary to make a cut in the fencing material in order to adjust it to the necessary length required. The same applies for the installation of the final pole. See Making Special Width Panels.

	Diagram No 6 shows a plan of the setting out process, which you have just completed. It is now recommended that you check all your measurements before drilling the holes you have marked out. Refer now to the sections Drilling the Holes and Using the Drill Guide
	GATE & FENCING FOR ROUND OR FREEFORM POOLS

	Take your FENCE TEMPLATE and place it over the centre of the hole you have just marked and then mark out 4 further holes along the CHALK LINE. After the 5th hole you either measure 57 mm or using the FENCE TEMPLATE mark the first hole of the new section and continue until you reach the point you started or the end of your run of fencing. Note: Unless the fifth pole happens to finish in exactly the corner, it will be necessary to make a cut in the fencing material in order to adjust it to the necessary length required. The same applies for the installation of the final pole. See Making Special Width Panels. Refer now to the sections Drilling the Holes and Using the Drill Guide DRILLING THE HOLES Refer again to Using the Drill Guide.
	We recommend that when drilling you attach some tape 100mm from the tip of the drill bit to help provide a good guide to controlling the depth of your drill hole. It is important to note that some holes need to be drilled at an angle of 3 degrees. This creates the "leans" that provide the tension that comes when all the sections are connected together. Square or Rectangular Pools 1. Both the 2 right-hand poles and the 2 left hand poles of the gate need to be drilled leaning inwards at an angle of 3 degrees. See Diagram No 3 – Gate Installation 2. The first pole of each fence panel on either side of the gate is also drilled leaning inwards at an angle of 3 degrees. 3. When you arrive at a corner, the end pole of the section is drilled at an angle of 3 degrees, perpendicular (90 degrees) to a line connecting the 2 corner poles. See Diagram No 4 – Square or Rectangular Pools. All other holes are drilled upright. Round or Freeform Pools 1. Both the 2 right-hand poles and the 2 left hand poles of the gate need to be drilled leaning inwards at an angle of 3 degrees. See Diagram No 3 - Gate Installation. 2. The first poles of each fence panel on either side of the gate are also drilled leaning inwards at an angle of 3 degrees. 3. The drilling leans for all other poles are explained in Diagram 7 – Round or Freeform Pools. Follow these instructions carefully.
	USING THE DRILL GUIDE

	1. Position the Drill Guide so that the front (Key guide 1 on Diagram 8) is pointing towards the pool and the horizontal line (Key guide 4) follows the chalk line and the centre of the Drilling Sleeve (Key guide 3) is directly over the pole mark. 2. Using the Adjusting Screws (Key guide 2) and the Drill Guide Level (Key guide 5) position the Bubble (Key guide 6) as required. This will be different for upright or leaning poles. See also Diagram 3, Diagram 4 & Diagram 7
	3. Place your feet (Key guide 7) on either side of the Drill Guide to ensure that it does not move when drilling.
	4. Take your drill with the 45cm/16mm drill bit (already marked with tape 100mm from the end to ensure the correct depth for the drill hole).
	5. Insert drill bit into the Drilling Sleeve (Key guide 3) and drill hole until tape is reached.
	6. During and after drilling clear away any dust from the drilled hole. INSTALLING THE PLASTIC SLEEVES
	Having drilled the holes in the patio/terrace, gently tap in the plastic sleeves with a hammer. If they are a little too loose, try wrapping a little tape around the sleeve.
	MAKING SPECIAL WIDTH PANELS
	1. Measure from the centre of the first hole to the centre of the second hole and add 25 mm.This is the length at which you need to cut the fence panel.
	2. Mark that length on the top and bottom of the fence panel, and using a straight edge draw a line and then cut with scissors.
	3. Fold over the extra 25mm of fence panel and staple along the length. 4. Remove the metal edging strip from the end pole by undoing the hex screws, using the 6mm spanner or socket. 5. As you will initially be cutting a five pole section it is recommended that at this stage you put aside any surplus fencing for future use. 6. Place the stapled edge of fence panel between the end pole and the metal edging strip and re-fix the hex screws to create correct size panel. CONNECTING THE FENCE SECTIONS AND GATES
	Make sure all the poles are firmly fitted into the plastic sleeves.
	Attach the Hooks and Eyes (found in the Fence Box) to the fence at each joining section, placing the Eye on the right and the Hook on the left Ð all to the OUTSIDE of the fencing
	Connect the Hooks and Eyes as you go, twisting the poles if required, to create tension in the fence panel and making sure that the metal edging strip and screws are facing outwards. When you reach the gate screw in the Hooks to each end pole of the fencing. The long Metal Eyes and Nuts from the Gate Section (found in the Gate Box) need to go through both of the outside poles of the Gate Section using the pre-drilled holes, and screwed tight. Connect the Fence Hook to the Gate Eye to complete the fencing.
	INSTALLING FENCING AT DIFFERENT LEVELS

	1. The principle of fitting the fencing at different levels is the same as before. 2. You will need to fit a pole at each level change and this may require you to create a special width panel. See Making Special Width Panels 3. You will also need to drill holes in each of the upper poles, using the 3.5mm Metal Drill Bit at the appropriate level for attaching the Hooks and Eyes. See Connecting the Fence Sections and Gates OPERATING THE GATE 1. The patented Magnetic Latch System is located on the inside of the gate and closes and latches automatically. 2. The gate is operated by lifting the black knob on the top of the Magnetic Latch System and opens outwards – AWAY – from the pool.
	3. Both the hinges and the Magnetic Latch System are fully adjustable. See Diagram 10 – Gate Adjustment. The Magnetic Latch System can be locked by using the key provided. ADJUSTING THE GATE

	Vertical adjustment Remove the Screw (Key Guide 1 on Diagram 10) and move the Locking Arm (Key Guide 2) Up or Down to line up with the Latch Plate (Key Guide 3). When correctly adjusted replace the screw and lock into position by re-screwing it into the appropriate hole.
	Horizontal adjustment For horizontal adjustment of the Latch Plate screw the Adjusting Screw (Key Guide 4) In or Out until the Latch Plate is in line with the Locking Arm.
	Adjusting the Hinges The Hinges can be adjusted by removing the small screw and cap on top .The screw inside can be adjusted to change the power of the closing of the gate. REMOVING THE FENCE FOR STORAGE
	1. Disconnect the Hooks from the Eyes on both the Fence Sections and the Gate Section(s). 2. Remove the Gate Section(s) and store in an upright position.
	3. Remove each Fence Section individually, roll up and store in an upright position.
	4. Cover all sleeve holes with Caps provided.
	IMPORTANT NOTICES FOR USING ENCLOTURE Enclôture® is designed for use as a Swimming Pool Safety Barrier to restrict the access of children, under the age of 5, to a swimming pool. When Enclôture® is combined with one or more walls or barriers, these must not allow access to the swimming pool either by their height (1.1m minimum between supports) or their own openings (doors or windows closed with a childproof device). It is essential to ensure that no fixed support (e.g. small wall) or mobile support (e.g. tricycle) of any kind is within 1.1m of the barrier. Note – A hedge is not considered a suitable barrier. Enclôture® does not replace common sense or individual responsibility. It is not designed to replace the vigilance of parents and/or responsible adults who remain the essential factor in protecting young children. WARNING: A swimming pool can pose a serious danger for children. Drowning happens quickly. Children near a swimming pool need your constant vigilance and active supervision even if they know how to swim. The presence of a parent and/or responsible adult is essential when the pool is open. Learn the actions that save lives. Learn and post emergency telephone numbers near the swimming pool. WARNING: Security is only ensured if the means of access is closed and locked. The means of access must always be closed. If the means of access or barrier are being repaired, or if the barrier is dismantled, take all measures to prevent young children gaining access to the pool. Check there are no objects near the barrier that would tempt, or help, a child to climb the barrier. With automatic closing systems always check that the means of access is closed. MAINTENANCE You are advised to regularly check that the closing system on the means of access works properly and to repair any fault. It is essential to replace any worn part or parts, as soon as possible. Enclôture® has been tested, and passed, by the AFNOR and COFRAC approved Laboratoire National DÕ Essais (LNE) and conforms to all aspects of AFNOR Standard NF P 90-306. Enclôture® products are guaranteed for five years.

Enclôture® Installation Instructions
