Everyone who owns a swimming pool in France needs to be aware that the law has changed. The law now requires that all new pool installation must have a security system fitted to protect children aged 5 and under.

All private, hotel and campsite pools must have a security system in place no later than January 1st 2006.

All properties which are let were obliged to have a security system fitted by May 1st 2004.

There is no substitute for parental vigilance but you can't watch your children all the time.
